Here is a list of the items I plan to purchase for my surgery. I'll update it afterwards to let everyone know what I used or didn't use.
- Baby toothbrushes - Since I won't be able to fit an adult size toothbrush in my swollen mouth. (Still using this since my mouth doesn't open the whole way)
- Baby spoons - Since my range won't be very big, these will have to do. (Still using these as well)
- A&D ointment - For the swollen chapped lips (I used this and chapstick for the peeling lips the first two weeks)
- Syringes - For eating (Hospital Provided them)
- Alcohol Free Mouth Wash - Going to need something that doesn't burn (Still using this)
- Nasal Spray - I may not need this now since I'm only having the lower jaw done (Didn't need it)
- Gel ice packs & Jaw bra - I already have one from the wisdom teeth surgery last year. (You will definitely need the soft gel ice packs for the first 2 days after surgery)
- Plastic cups - I saw another blogger used them since you can bend them easily to fit against your numb lips. (Didn't use. Went to a regular cup the first day post op)
- Tissues - For the drooling (Used them at meal time and when brushing teeth)
- Olay Face wipes - I saw another blogger listed these as well. I guess around 3 weeks after surgery your face gets very oily and these are gentle. (Yep. My skin got very oily week 2)
- Rice heat pack - This is a must since after a few days you switch from ice to heat and this will help with the swelling (It is my best friend. I still use it after work and before bed)
- Protein Powder - For the homemade shakes (Bought some meal replacement protein from GNC. Chocolate and Vanilla Bean)
- Ensure Clear & Regular - I tried them all, and like them all so that was easy! (A must)
- Pineapple Juice - It's supposed to help with inflammation. (Still drinking one small can a day)
- Metamucil - Everyone that has given me advice has mentioned this awful truth (Take this every day, trust me)
